I promise something closer to a real blog post in the near future. Seeing as how I still owe my mom Christmas pictures you are just going to have to bear with me. I have a great Valentine’s Day post coming. I will try to get it up before July.

Anyone else an Lolcats or Loldogs fan? Me, huge fan! My favorite way to start off a Monday morning is to go through all the Lol pictures from the week before. How can you not laugh at that? Lolcats almost makes me want a cat. Almost.

Anyway, yesterday I decided I would add a few Servo and Zoey pictures to the website. Have you met my dogs? They are hilarious, just ask them.

First, I came up with this…

moar funny pictures

Then, I added this…

moar funny pictures

Which the second one probably is only funny to me and B, but I bought Zoey that light bulb toy a year ago and I still feel the need to tell that joke every single time she brings me the toy. Who says the Sagowitz men are the only ones with a corny sense of humor?

I crack myself up.

The other day I was sitting out on our screened in porch and I noticed a ton of monarch butterflies fluttering around my mums. I ran inside to grab my camera, giddy with excitement that my backyard was a stop on the migration trail. I don’t remember seeing a monarch since my elementary school days when we would hatch them and then release them into the wild.

Once I started snapping pictures I realized these butterflies looked different from what I remembered. After I got a few good shots I went inside to look up pictures of monarch butterflies. That is when I discovered I did not have beautiful, delicate monarch butterflies in my backyard. I had fat, furry painted ladies, which technically still is a butterfly, but they have that gross furry body like a moth. In my mind, if it looks like a moth, that totally makes it a moth.

Oh well, I still got some cool pictures, with my point and shoot camera no less!

This weekend one of my best friend’s got married in Dallas. It was a beautiful wedding (remind me to show you the amazing centerpieces later). I enjoyed being back in my home town and seeing some friends I haven’t seen in years. I also enjoyed getting a small taste of the world of wedding photography. And let me just say, HOLY CRAP, I have a new found appreciation for wedding photogs. The pressure! It probably doesn’t help matters that I was completely unprepared (my fault, not the brides).

Mandi, the beautiful bride and great friend of mine, asked if I would take pictures at the wedding rehearsal. I was planning on taking some pictures anyway, so of course I agreed. I brought my camera, flash, spare batteries, extra lens… I was ready to go. Heh. Notice I didn’t list memory card. I packed my whole camera bag and never bothered to check if there was a memory card in the camera, let alone a spare card in the bag. Nothing like running to CVS to buy a cheap memory card that is way over priced. Also, I found out at the rehearsal, my flash had corroded batteries in it so it wouldn’t work. Spare batteries don’t do much good when the flash won’t work period. I also found out at the rehearsal that my camera battery was almost dead. Luckily, I had a spare that had a little bit more charge and I brought my charger. Whew, stress. I was panicked that I wouldn’t have a single shot worth anything.

Thank goodness for digital cameras. I took close to 300 pictures and I have about 40 to work with. It was fun getting to use my camera for something besides pictures of my dogs, but I don’t think I want start booking jobs anytime soon.

Enough about me though, how about I share some of my favorite shots from the rehearsal.

Later in the week (or next month knowing my track record) I will post pictures from the wedding. B and I had a little too much fun, but it was worth it. We never get a wild weekend away with no responsibilities!

The beautiful fall colors are quickly fading and before long everything will be brown and mucky. Before everything gets too depressing, I thought I would post some happy fall pictures from Canada. I never knew fall until I saw a Canadian fall. Wow, I mean wow. I don’t think these pictures even capture the vast beauty of it all. Everywhere you look there is another stunning, vibrant color. It truly was amazing.

I promised outtakes and I am here to deliver that promise. I think my outtake pictures end up being my favorite! I would never be able to catch the stinkeye that Zoey is giving me if it weren’t for digital cameras.

Case in point.

Miss Piggy was not feeling the Halloween spirit last night. Maybe tonight she will be more enthused.

Servo on the other hand. He is just like all little boys. Tie a cape around his neck and he is happy. The little stinker will actually put his cape on himself as long as I hold it up for him.

I did manage to get one good shot of the grumpy pig… sort of.

Ok, so she was still mad at me, but she just looked so darn cute! How could a mother resist?

Again, Servo was just happy as a clam to prance around in his cape. We always call him Secret Agent Servo, maybe we were on to something.

Maybe we should change his name to Super Hero Servo. Especially after we saw this…

Up, up and away!

This could also be titled, how to keep Megan entertained on vacation.

On our totally awesome (have I said that enough?) vacation in Vancouver, B and I were upgraded to a one bedroom suit with an amazing view. The area of Vancouver we stayed in is filed with high-rise buildings, our hotel being one of them. Our room was on the 31st floor, out of 35 floors total. We were up there. And I loved it!

For some reason, high-rise buildings entertain me. I don’t really love heights, but when I am up high, I love it. I love having the ability to overlook everything, which is why I spent most of our time in the hotel room sitting in front of the window. I even moved a chair over so I could just sit there and look out. (We had a balcony too, but at 31 stories high it’s a little cold and windy. Plus, the chair wouldn’t fit outside.)

Today’s Vancouver Fact: We stayed in the West End district of Vancouver, which is the most populated area in all of Canada. You could walk from one end of the small island to the other in about 20 minutes, but yet 40,000+ people live in the area. High-rise living is a must!

So besides staring out the window every chance I got, I also felt the need to take pictures of our view every chance I got. I think I took a picture every morning and evening, probably every time we got back to the room as well. Now you get to relive my obsession. Lucky you!

null

We didn’t know what kind of view we had the first few days. During my conference the weather was rainy and foggy every day.

Luck for us though, the weather cleared up just in time for our vacation to start! Talking about timing.

Everyday was a little bit more clear than the day before. We didn’t want to leave! It was hard when everyday was a little nicer than the day before.

Sunset was awesome as well! We couldn’t really see the sun setting from our room, but we could see the beautiful pink and orange hues cast on the buildings.

Night time was awesome as well. I love my quiet house in Oklahoma, but there is something about a busy city that is so exciting. Every siren or loud car had me running to the window to see what was going on. In another lifetime, this could be me. I think I could really get use to big city living!

By the way, fall in Vancouver tops any fall I have ever seen before. The colors were amazing! We really lucked out on the weather too, it was suppose to rain every day, but it has been wonderful since the day my conference ended. Perfect timing! You are lucky I am coming home at all! Sorry Zoey and Servo, we almost sent you to live with grandma and grandpa forever.

It’s official. Zoey killed her monkey. There are only so many times that I will sew her toy back together before I finally give up. Those so many times happen to equal one. My emergency surgery lasted a couple weeks before I discovered a horrible tragedy. A horrible and messy tragedy. When Zoey makes a hole, she makes a hole. There was stuffing everywhere. And I took pictures, what else!

I also used this opportunity to try out the various settings on my new camera. I must say, I am very impressed!

This was the full automatic mode. It gave the typical washed out flash with glowy eyes effect.

Next, I tried turning the flash off. Eh. It made the picture yellow. Also, Zoey felt the need to pose with her work of art.

Finally, I went to full manual mode. I upped the ISO, changed the white balance and kept the flash off. I was very surprised and pleased with the results. It is still a point and shoot camera and indoor pictures are my weakness, but I think the manual mode has a world options. I haven’t tried out the macro setting or any of the other features.

I took some pictures of our wonderful candlelight dinner. This was for two reasons, first I want to be able to look back and remember how ridiculously romantic we were in our youth, and two, I wanted to practice taking pictures in low light. So enjoy the sappy sweetness from our candlelight anniversary dinner, we sure did!
