Why hello there. I’m Steph from Those Corwins and I’m hoping to entertain you today while Megan is out on vacation. You know, having fun. While I’m working. Not the slightest bit jealous.
Nope.
A few weeks ago, Megan hosted a fondue party at their house. I adore fondue. Okay, well I guess adore is a strong word for something I’ve only had three times. Twice was at the fancy-pants Melting Pot. The other time was at a slightly more ghetto fondue place in Berkeley (I believe it was called Fondue Fred, which, I mean, I just should have known better) where we attempted to meet other married couples. The food and the socializing was a big FAIL. But the Melting Pot is always delicious and fills you up since you cannot stop eating! The cheese fondue and then the main course and the dessert fondues! oh my!
Once I saw how Megan put together her own at-home fondue I immediately figured that even my kitchen-challenged self can melt some cheese for dinner. Maybe then I can restore my husband’s faith in me. Just maybe.
I dug back into some old saved blog entries and saw that Green Being (aka Leslie) posted this recipe for smokey cheddar and amber ale fondue. Cheese? Good! Beer? Good! Fondue? Gooooood!

Steps Three through whatever: Have your husband prep the veggies and bread while you pour in the delicious cheese

Second to Last Step: Set up the cheese on the table with a mountain of veggies. If you don’t have a fondue pot (like us), just use a bowl and make sure you eat that cheesy goodness fast.

Final Step: Eat! The final result? Yum!
See not so hard? And it was really fast! Obviously if you are omnivores you could be creative and dip some sausage in there, but we opt for the vegetables.
What are your favorite fondue experiences?

Oh my gosh, I hate you for showing me fondue. Because now I wannnnt some!
(Okay, I don’t really HATE you. But now I’m hungry!)
Fondue always means special times – in college we had a cheese and chocolate fondue party for Christmas. (And an attempt at a chocolate fountain which was just a miserable failure. But anyhow.)
Our first wedding anniversary, we went to the Melting Pot! Soooo good. (But so darn expensive! 90 bucks on a dinner? Not my kind of place. Ha.)
I’ve had fondue once at the Melting Pot, which was AMAZING, and once at someone’s house.
I really think that if the Melting Pot just lowered their prices a tad there would be lines out the door every night. Whyyy must they be so expensive? That’s probably best though, since you consume about a thousand calories per dollar spent there
ooh yummy fondue. Brett and I have a fondue pot that we ot for our wedding and we have only made fondue once a breakfast fondue with Champagne (amazing!!!!). Now I think we will have to make some fondue in the upcoming month now that its getting colder.
Great guest post.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. so delicious!
[...] I guest-blogged over at Naturally Right. And I’m telling you, you will want to go [...]
That looks absolutely delicious! I want some right now. Now I’m going to get my cheese and crackers I brought today because I am officially hungry.
Yummers! That looks so freakin good! I want some now! And I need to check out that Melting Pot place — must go research the closest location!
@Ashley, yep it’s definitely expensive, but both times I went were special occasions, my birthday and then my mom, sister, and I went before the Michael Buble concert we went to. Though for how long you are there, it’s definitely more of an experience than just a meal.
mmm…i need some cheese NOW! i’m glad you used that recipe, because i actually haven’t tried it yet. i am committing to making it this weekend – will update then!
