We have a Fourth of July tradition on the farm… setting off tons and tons of fireworks. Who doesn’t enjoy fireworks? I am terrified of anything besides sparklers and roman candles, but I still enjoy the show. So far no fingers have been lost on the Fourth and if you have met my brother, that is quite a miracle.
Since I have a fancy new camera, I decided to spend my night of fireworks taking pictures. Since B and my brother bought enough fireworks for a small army, I had plenty of opportunities to try out different settings. Here are some of my favorite shots.

That last one is my favorite. Sparklers are awesome.
Happy late Fourth of July! I hope everyone had a great weekend.

The first one if my favorite. What settings were you using?
I meant “is” my favorite. Damn it!
Were you setting the fireworks off on grass???
My friend Liz took some pictures of us playing with sparklers and she messed with the exposure speed (it is possible I just totally made up that term) so that you can see the trail that the sparklers made as we moved them around. It was a cool effect! You should try it sometime.
Yes, that is the grass, but on a bucket! We had a huge downpour that afternoon so everything was wet, no fires because of us, I promise.
And exposure speed is right. I was playing with the aperture, which does similar stuff, but it is the one I understand more about so I change it more. I had some sparkler trails, but no were as cool as the bottle rocket trail in the first picture.
If you really want to see fireworks, go to Confessions of a Pioneer Woman. Hers are amazing! And kind of scary since they put on that whole show in their backyard.
