Over at EmilyPie, there is a weekly photo challenge going on. This week’s challenge is Macro, or a shot of something up close. I don’t have a true macro lens, but I do have a brand spanking new nifty fifty to play with!
Since there aren’t any pretty flowers or interesting foliage around my house right now, I chose to take a picture of the green-est (and only living) plant I have. My aloe plant. (I actually have almost killed this plant a few times, but every time my mom comes to visit she manages to save its life.)

Oooo, ahhh. Pretty. For any pros out there, don’t laugh at my skills, or lack there of. I am learning. Slowly, but surely, I am learning. (Feel free to give me tips or techniques!)
Go check out EmilyPie’s blog for more macro shots!

Don’t worry, I don’t think anyone is laughing at this… it is perfect. I love this. I’m horrible at taking shots looking down at plants… I always love looking at these types of shots, I just don’t have any eye to capture it. You did a great job with this one.
Thanks for participating!
I think any of us are just happy that something is turning out without the use of an actual macro lens!
Looks great
Good job Wife! Its great to have a hobby huh? (I should know… I have 1.2 million of them)
Great shot. Once you have a good camera, it does most of the work.
I think that looks really cool! Your camera is great at capturing really bright, vivid color. I decided to see just how crappy a macro shot would be with my little Canon Powershot Elph…not good. Even set to Macro! Someday I am definately buying an awesome camera.
oooh. I love it. Wonferdul color and light. I disagree about the camera doing most of the work, you have a great eye!
From one shutterbug to another…what camera are you using these days?
Oh and is that the color Aloes should be? Cause mine looks more ummm…brown?
